Bending our plates must follow some rules in a matter of punch radius and die opening. Needed values depends on your steel grade and thickness. Please find all details about bending your plates in our technical recommendations or ask them to our dedicated collaborators.

Springback is the natural reverse force that applies as a reaction of bending steel (elastic deformation). On Quard and Quend plates, the quality of steel and the producing processes are such that springback is limited. Nice to make your workability easier.

The recommended minimum preheating requirement is given in relation to single plate thickness. The test method on which the preheating recommendations are based is the Tekken test. Needed values depends on your steel grade and thickness. Please find all details about welding your plates in our technical recommendations or ask them to our dedicated collaborators.

Rolling of Quard and Quend is made on the Belgian site of NLMK Clabecq based on their unique tool (a reversible quarto mill and a four-stand continuous finishing mill on the same line). Black plates are then transported a few hundred meters away to the ultra-modern Quenching and Tempering unit for heat treatment.
For the widest dimensions, our sister mill in Denmark (NLMK Dansteel) makes their brand new rolling capacities available to us. When they are rolled, they come back to Belgium to get their heat treatment.
All the plates are checked on the Belgian production site before their departure to the final customer.
