Steel for manufacturers of tippers and dumper trucks

Millions of tons of goods are conveyed every day in the world. In order to maximize the load by traject with the least impact on the environment, lightweight structure becomes a necessity.
On the one hand, the premium segment Quend®, the high yield strength steel developed by NLMK Clabecq, enables the truck manufacturers to develop chassis and trailers able to decrease the overall weight while increasing the total load mass: the weight reduction of structural elements can reach 20%. Thanks to high workability, Quend® reduces the production time. It results in a performance improvement.
Delivered as wide plate, Quend® is produced with thicknesses from 3,2mm up to 64. It explains why it finds its place in all types of trucks and trailers on the market.

On the other hand, Quard®, NLMK’s abrasion resistant steel, has been specifically developed for manufacturers of tippers and dumper trucks. Its hardness and its ability to resist to frictions, resulting among others from load charging and discharging, strengthen the machine reliability, even in the hardest conditions. Available from 3,2mm, Quard® makes it possible to think at new designs with a lower thickness.

PRODUCTS

QUARD®

Quard® plates are produced at NLMK Clabecq, where they are treated in a state-of-the-art Quenching and Tempering unit. The slabs used are supplied by the NLMK’s Lipetsk production site. Quard® abrasion resistant plates are delivered with hardness of 400 HB (Quard® 400), 450 HB (Quard® 450), 500 HB (Quard® 500) and 550 HB (Quard® 550), with thicknesses ranging from 3.2 mm to 64 mm and widths from 1,500 to 3,100 mm.

QUEND®

Quend® is produced at NLMK Clabecq in Belgium, where it is rolled and then quenched and tempered in a recent and modern heat treatment unit. The production is made from slabs coming from the NLMK’s Lipetsk production site. The Quend® high yield strength steel plates are delivered with a yield strength of 700 MPa (Quend® 700), 900 MPa (Quend® 900), 960 MPa (Quend® 960) and 1100 MPa (Quend® 1100) with thicknesses ranging from 4 mm to 64 mm and widths from 1,500 to 3,100 mm.
They are designed for lifting and hoisting equipment, truck chassis, handling equipment, trailers, and other applications where high structural strength is of critical importance.
